Wordpress

Wordpress 2.3 = Seo Goodness Mmmm…

  1. Native tagging support - Gone are the days of using 3rd party plugins such as Ultimate Tag Warrior, Jerome’s Keywords, Simple Tags, and Bunny’s Technorati Tag plugins. Tagging is now integrated into Wordpress 2.3! If you’ve already been using a tagging plugin you can bring your data into the new system. The tagging system is also wicked-fast, so your host won’t mind
  2. Canonical URL Support - Search Engines interpret url’s differently than humans do, and they generally tend to prefer the ‘canonical’ or authoritative version of the url. Now you can enforce your no-www preference, redirect posts with changed slugs so a link never goes bad, redirect URLs that get cut off in emails on similar to the correct post, and much more. This is gold for SEO because you’ll face less duplicate content issues and see better SERPs.
  3. Advanced WYSIWYG functionality - Previously, Wordpress had a hidden TinyMCE toolbar that could only be accessed by pressing Alt+Shift+V, which then allowed you to embed headings and subheadings into pots. By using this toolbar you can increase your post-level SEO by including Header Tags ( <H2>, <H3>) that give Search Engine’s more insight into the theme of your post. Wordpress 2.3 innovates in its Visual Editor by revealing all of Tiny MCE’s hidden options.
  4. Post Slug Automatic Updates - A post slug is the last part of the url that directs the user to your blog post. Having a relevant post slug can significantly boost your SERP’s (Search Engine Ranking Position). Previously, you could only choose your post slug at the time of posting, but now you can change your mind all you want after you’ve hit that post button. Wordpress 2.3 will automatically redirect the old post url/slug to the new url.
  5. Easy Update Notifications - While this isn’t a direct SEO benefit, it’s awesome to know when there is a new Wordpress security update or plugin update available. Wordpress uses its API to compare your current install base to that of the Wordpress codex, and it automatically notifies you of any updates.
