It’s hard enough for me to keep up with all my social media accounts, let alone an amphibian!
As we approach the end of 2007, I just wanted to send a thank you to the entire Search Engine People readers. I wish you all a joyous, prosperous and healthy 2008!
Throughout my first year in SEO, I have witnessed a community that is inclusive, supportive and has a tremendous amount of pride in the work they do. I’ve equally enjoyed sharing with each of you my observations and perspectives and your responses and personal blogs.
The next two weeks I’ll have a lighter blog post schedule, however I’ll be back to the regular daily schedule on Monday January 7th with my “by the numbers” look at propeller.
While searching for images to include in my ‘Social Media by the Numbers’ series, I’ve come across some hilarious industry themed content that had me laughing hysterically. I started to save the videos, images, jokes and cartoons and share them with friends.
One day I was struggling to write a post, so I decided to look through that collection for inspiration. I laughed again, but still couldn’t figure out what to write, so I decided to give my favorite cartoon a fitting title and voila, I had my post for the day!

This week’s cartoon is dedicated to a well liked character in our industry … Todd Malicoat (aka StuntDubl) who I consider a friend. I met Todd many years ago for the first time at a PubCon Conference in Orlanda way back in 2003. He’s come along way in the industry since then, and is very definitely an authority on everything social and search.
This week’s cartoon is dedicated to Mona Elesseily (of PageZero Media), who has been pushed dangerously close to the edge trying to put the finishing touches on a 100-page report titled
Mastering Panama
Here is this weeks cartoon funny. For those not in the industry, Jim Boykin is a popular figure in the industry, and is credited with coining the term “link ninja”.
Enjoy!

This week’s cartoon is not at all a dig at Neil, but more a sign of respect. Neil is a well respected individual in our industry, who is a permanent fixture on all panels at related conferences discussing social media. He’s also cofounder of ACS SEO. What’s truly really impressive though, is that Neil is only 22, and is known as one of the definitive gurus in the space.
My good friend Ross Dunn of StepForth recalls years ago when Neil was just 15, and would call Ross and Jim Hedger to prod them for industry information when he was just getting started. Well, I’d say it panned out well for Neil, and he’s now a leader in our space.
“SEO is a part of SEM”, he said. She shakes her head while he says it.
“No, SEM is a part of SEO.”
At the sound of a deep sigh they both turn their head to listen to a sage contributor; “No… no, you’re both wrong. SEO is dead…”
An industry that takes itself serious enough that it nitpicks over which abbreviation does what, why, and if the abbreviation even exists or not, is ripe for a look in a mirror called humor.
The first look looks like this:
