Affiliate Marketing today is so much more than what it used to be, when simply having someone place your banner on their website to drive traffic was the norm. Back in the day, your banner would catch someones eye, they would click on it, and you would pay the person displaying your banner for each click that came through to your site from theirs. (Not so different from Pay Per Click on the search engines today).

Just a very quick post today, about a quick and simple technique to increase quality traffic to a site, while appeasing everyone in the social media space … the content creator, the social media themselves, and search engines.
This technique will:
a) generate more traffic for social media sites
b) make search results more user friendly
c) drive more ‘quality’ traffic to content creator sites … ie producers of quality content!
What you say … how can this be possible? Win-Win-Win scenarios are never possible, especially where social media and content creators are concerned … ask Marty?. Its almost a truism that social media converts extremely poorly. Surely you gest?
How do you benchmark the quality of your own blog postings?
This is a question that each blogger should be able to answer without hesitation … yet few of us can. After all, how do we know if the quality of our posts is improving or getting worse over time. Are we continually improving our post quality, or are bad habits creeping into our writing and causing us to loose valuable readers? Its well understood and even intuitive, that the better the quality of blog posts, the more likely we can achieve virtually any objectives.

Building on last week’s post Viagra At Work, we’ve had the opportunity to partner with a client in running a test campaign. And while things didn’t necessarily pan out as planned, there were some valuable and salient learnings (and surprises to be found along the way). To protect the client and future iterations, we’re limited as to what we can share, but this week, I get to look at a personal favourite in the PPC (and frankly, SEO) arsenal…
Seasonality in keywords.
This is going to be a little tricky but bear with me and together, we’ll muddle through.

This post is Part III of a III part series on How to Improve Your Digg Profile by successfully managing your ‘Digg friends’.
1) The first post in the series focused on ‘How to Make Yourself More Attractive’ from a Digg perspective, to improve your chances of being accepted as a trusted friend on Digg.
2) The second post in the series was “Tips for Finding and Securing the ‘Right’ Friends on Digg“, because its about quality not quantity.
Social media has so often been connected with Linkbait in our industry that it’s almost become a truism that social media drives low quality traffic.
This isn’t the case. Social media CAN drive quality traffic.
But before we can ascertain that social media can drive quality traffic we must first define:
What is Quality Traffic?
A) Every website is going to have deferring definitions of what quality is for them. Because the Bar varies from individual to individual; talking in absolutes just doesn’t make any sense. I.e 30% bounce rate or 5 minutes spent on the site.

SEO’s, here’s my call to you - Don’t take the “search” in Search Engine Optimization too seriously. As SEO’s (novice, intermediate, or advanced) we have a tendency to be deeply involved in our industry happenings, which can sometimes take away focus from the real reason our industry exists. Bringing visibility to clients or self-owned sites requires much diligence and talent, so the majority of your time is better employed at implementing what you already know than reading about new information.
All around good guy and internet marketing guru Matt McGee today announced the launch of the SEMMYs … the search industry’s equivalent of the EMMY’s.
The EMMYs are described as; an annual awards event honoring some of the best articles and blog posts from the search marketing industry, as voted by the industry. We have 127 authors nominated, representing 111 blogs/sites.
There are 15 categories for awards:
The Scenario:
What will ultimately replace search engines?
This is a question I am asked frequently, and therefore have given considerable thought to. Ultimately, whatever it is, it has to compensate for the weaknesses of search though right? So, what are the weaknesses of search relative to the ideal search solution (he says knowing that we’ll never stop searching for things we need, so search itself will never die, only transform into something more efficient)?
At its core, Delicious is simply a bookmarking system. It’s a place to store all those links that are too much to be in your “Favorites” folder. What makes it so useful is its one of those technologies that has a simple interface. What makes it so compelling is it’s ability to do so much more; keep, discover, share, research and collaborate from any computer.
This week I take a look at Delicious, by the numbers.
The Beginning:
