High Five To Google For Selling Off SEO Business

I'm extremely pleased to see that Google will be selling off the SEO portion of Performics. They've split the company up (that they acquired in the DoubleClick deal) into two parts - affiliate and search marketing. The search marketing division will be sold, and that's exactly what we all hoped would happen. That whole "conflict of interest" thing was just way too much, and it really needed to be taken care of. Good to see them address it so quickly.

They haven't sold it yet, but they have received "interest" from some of their partners, and I'm sure that now that they've broken the news, they'll receive even more inquiries.

High five, Google. Good to see you taking care of this.

  1. It is nice when people actually do what they should do. They could have kept it, and everyone would have to deal with it, but when they actually do what they should do, it makes it better for everyone else.

    Now, I should make a post on my blog… i need to stop slacking,and actually post a blog…..

    I think they had to because Danny Sullivan would have given Google a hard time on each podcast that Matt Cutts listens to – after a while it would have worn Matt down.
