[...] Twitter has enhanced almost every major social media facet and channel. The additional exposure it can drive to content on other social media sites is fairly significant. I wrote a post recently on how Twitter additionally acts as a social news aggregation source similar to Digg and Reddit. It talks about sites that aggregate popular links shared on Twitter essentially by counting retweets as votes. You can read it here: http://www.searchenginepeople.com/blog/social-media-news-aggregation-via-twitter.html [...]

Hi Jordan,

The part where you said

"like social media news sites, it's not always a numbers game. There's a lot to be said for the authority of the user that's retweeting the link..."

Is there a way to find out my authority(or anyone else for that matter).

I always thought that it's a number that matter. Thanks for enlighten me.

Agreed that there is much to learn about the democratic process of retweeting. Wondering how much is related to the newsworthiness of the Tweet and how much is due to relationship. If asked to please RT by a friend, the resulting tweets may skew the traditional democratic results.
Interesting. Also wondering if there should be some filters, or if absolute retweets is enough of a barometer?

Does HootSuite have a webpage that people can openly go to for the aggregation of links? If not, then it wouldn't fall into the same category.

In addition, please consider www.hootsuite.com as well as a great tool for newsaggregation on Twitter.
