Further to my August 23rd post, “Yellow Pages Goes Social” I talked about how the Yellow Pages Group in Canada had launched their integration of Facebook for users who want to save and share their favorite businesses by using their link function on Facebook.com.
Darby Seiben, Senior Manager - Traffic, Distribution and eProduct Management with YellowPages.ca, posted a great update on his blog letting us know that yellowpages.ca expanded this one step further by integrating the “add to facebook” directly into the search results as well as the business profile page for every business in Canada
If you Click on yellowpages.ca and do a search for ‘SEO’ in ‘Ajax’, you’ll note the results. I’ve captured just the result listing. As you can see, there is an ‘add to facebook’ button.
If you click on the company name, it will load the business profile page for Search Engine People. As you can see from the following screen shot there are two locations where you can “add to facebook” including the logo in the top right hand corner.
By clicking on the button, this is how it looks like on your facebook page:
As Darby points out, this is one of the first times that a company has allowed every single business in a country the ability to brand itself inside facebook. From a user perspective this is a great way to to let your friends know the contact information of the fantastic restaurant you visited last night or post dinner plans with a link to the restaurant; with map and driving directions since all the business profile pages on yellowpages.ca have this feature. From a small business perspective - this is a great opportunity to brand yourself within facebook. In Toronto alone, this represents a potential audience of over 1 million members!
I would recommend that a small business set up a profile in facebook. As you build your community you can send out messages, promotions, coupons and seasonal information. You use the ‘add to facebook’ functionality to continue to update your friend list of these promotions.
Yet another great example of the ground breaking work the IYP team at Yellow Pages Group is doing!

I believe this is the functionality provided by Agendize’s white label platform for saving and sharing listings content in various places (IM, email, social networking profile, etc.). YPG partnered with Agendize to bring in this functionality earlier this year.
