If the Clash were linkbuilders… “Rankings Falling”
May 25th, 2007 by Bill
Based upon London Calling, by the Clash.
“Rankings Falling”
Rankings falling to the faraway towns
Now war is declared, and battle come down
Rankings falling to the underworld
Climb out of supplementals, you boys and girls
Rankings falling, now don’t look to us
All our search listings have bitten the dust
Rankings falling, see we ain’t got no swing
‘Cept for the green of that toolbar thing
[Chorus 1:]
Personalization is coming, Web History’s zooming in
Meltdown expected, traffic growing thin
Engines stop running, but I have no fear
‘Cause Rankings are dropping, and I live by the river
Rankings falling to the imitation zone
Forget it, brother, you can go it alone
Rankings falling to the queries of death
Quit holding out, and draw another breath
Rankings falling, and I don’t wanna shout
But while we were talking, I saw you linking out
Rankings falling, see we ain’t got no high
Except for that one with the nofollow eyes
[Chorus 2: x2]
The plusbox is coming, onebox zooming in
Engines stop running, the traffic’s grown thin
A spidering error, but I have no fear
‘Cause Rankings are dropping, and I live by the river
Now get this
Rankings Falling, yes, I was there, too
An’ you know what they said? Well, some of it was true!
Rankings Falling at the top of the serps
After all this, won’t you give me a link?
Rankings Falling
I never felt so much a like [fading] alike alike alike

Awesome Bill,
This is fantastic! Very very deep too. Absolutely, this could be an anthem for the industry, and things to come.
Keep ‘em coming. Hmmmm perhaps the history of search to “American Pie”.
