SEO Related Lyric Contest
Have your search initiatives got you singing the blues?
Do something about it.
Put all your creative juices together and come up with a Search-related lyric and you could be $1,000 (US) richer. It could be about a search engine, a well known industry person (ie. Matt Cutts are your ears ringing), social media and search, a story about search, just about whatever you want to say about the industry. But it must be about the search industry.
The lyrics voted the most popular (based on a thoroughly unscientific local voting system, social bookmarking votes, comments, and a panel of industry people), and complying with the Official Rules, will be awarded $1000 cold hard cash at the end of the competition.
$1,000 bucks cash. * Links to your web site and free publicity. Who knows, maybe we’ll even have a contest weekly to see who can come up with the best video to the lyrics of chosen songs (hint hint).
Does it get any better than this?
Enter on or before June 30th, 2007 to qualify.
Here are the complete set of rules.
And good luck!
* Contestants are allowed to submit their URL’s with their entries (contestant websites should have no penalties/bans by major search engines). A link back to your site will be included at the bottom of your lyric entry along with any additional author information you would like to include.
Each lyric submission to the contest will be posted on this website.
You do not have to be an expert or experienced composer! Far from it. This is all about fun, and blowing off steam!
What do I have to do?
The contest is quite simple. All you have to do is register for an account (Register Here), then submit your search related lyrics to us, along with the name of the song it is a parody of (if it is a parody), and please remember to include your site as a link … you deserve it. The song that is the most popular (based on our local voting system, social bookmarking votes, comments and a panel of industry people), and complies with the Official Rules, wins the prize of $1,000 at the end of the competition .
When does the competition take place?
The contest will start Tuesday May 22th 2007. The deadline for all entries is: June 30th 2007.
How do I enter?
All entries must be submitted using the contest Blog (Submit Here). If approved, your entry will be posted on our website. Once posted, then we suggest making sure it is well seeding with the various social media. At the end of the competition, the most popular entry will win, and popularity in social media is an aspect.
Official Rules:
- Your submission must be in the form of a song lyric addressing the Search Industry. If you are writing a song parody, please be sure to tell everyone what song it is a parody of. If you’re writing a completely unique song … wow! Kudos to you.
- Based on a thoroughly unscientific local voting system, social bookmarking votes, comments, and a panel of industry people, the $1000 prize will be awarded to the contestant deemed to have submitted the most popular and marketable submission.
- There must be a minimum of ten (10) contestants for the contest to take place.
- Maximum of five (5) entries per person
- Lyric submissions must be tasteful. Any submissions containing questionable content such as pornographic references, or those intended to incite hatred, will be ineligible and will be deleted immediately.
- You must submit lyrics for at least 2 verses and the chorus of a song, not merely a few lines of a song.
- Upon entering the contest, you agree to grant exclusive publication rights of your work to Search Engine People Inc.
- Search Engine People Inc. employees and contest judges are not eligible to win the $1000 prize … though can enter in the interest of fun.
- Work previously published (including on the Internet) will not be considered.
- Search Engine People Inc. reserves the right to amend the terms of the contest at any time, including, without limitation, to withdraw the request for entries, terminate the contest or extend the deadline for submissions, all as the Search Engine People Inc. may determine in its sole discretion. By submitting your entry you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of the contest stipulated in the paragraphs above, and any subsequent modifications or amendments thereto.
- Employees of SearchEnginePeople.com are not eligible to win the prize. Neither is Weird Al, simply on principle.
- HAVE FUN!
