Google Concedes Canada Is A Country Afterall

by The Guy.

Under the auspices of better late than never, and after phone calls, emails, protestations and enquires, not the least of which may well have been a phone call from Andrew Wahl of Canadian Business Magazine, Google has reversed its policy, now allowing Canadian companies to become Google Adwords qualified and as such, a Google Adwords Qualified Company.

Becoming a Google Adwords Qualified Company requires:

Well, first of all, it requires being listed in the Google country participants which Canada is, here .

  • Having a billing and mailing address in a country where company qualification is available.
  • Employing at least two Adwords qualified professionals under the main company-registered My Client Center account.
  • Building and maintaining the minimum 90-day required total client spend for the company's My Client Center account.
  • Or in other words, have a company, have the minimum knowledge requirements for Google Adwords (written test required) and have the willingness to put your money where your mouse is.

This is good news, not only for Canadian companies and Google but for the Canadian search landscape as well.

Jen Sense who covered the issue here , Ross Dunn of Stepforth who covered the issue here and Ian McAnerin who focused on it here , should all take a bow.

Of course, now, the race is on to become the first Canadian Google Adwords Qualified Company company.

'Scuse me while I go lace up my running shoes.
