San Jose Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Pacific States

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that San Jose was the 8th most expensive city in Pacific States in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of April 2015. San Jose also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in California, ranking 7th. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in Pacific States for keywords, while Ontario ranked as the least expensive city.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 47% Higher in San Jose than Burbank

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in San Jose are 47% higher than in Burbank. The average price of a click in San Jose is $18.95.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Burbank is less than San Jose, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in San Jose are relatively low, we also compared prices with Honolulu which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in San Jose was 37% higher than in Honolulu. This suggests that perhaps San Jose prices are not relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.

An ongoing PPC Study by Search Engine People tracks and monitors how paid search in North America’s Top Cities is changing over time for select industries.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.
