San Jose Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Pacific States

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that San Jose was the 9th most expensive city in Pacific States in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of May 2016. San Jose also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in California, ranking 7th. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in Pacific States for keywords, while Ontario ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting San Jose keywords increased by 14% in May 2016.

Not surprisingly, the month over month price increases for San Jose Google Adwords terms helped increase prices (yr./yr. price increase)% higher than the same period last year.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 49% Higher in San Jose than Burbank

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in San Jose are 49% higher than in Burbank. The average price of a click in San Jose is $17.11.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Burbank is less than San Jose, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in San Jose are relatively low, we also compared prices with Honolulu which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in San Jose was 73% higher than in Honolulu. This suggests that perhaps San Jose prices are not relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.
