San Jose Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Pacific States

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that San Jose was the 6th most expensive city in Pacific States in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of August 2016. San Jose also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in California, ranking 5th. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in Pacific States for keywords, while Modesto ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting San Jose keywords increased by (Yr/Yr increase %)% versus the same keywords one year earlier.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 56% Higher in San Jose than Burbank

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in San Jose are 56% higher than in Burbank. The average price of a click in San Jose is $20.67.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Burbank is less than San Jose, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in San Jose are relatively low, we also compared prices with Honolulu which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in San Jose was 125% higher than in Honolulu. This suggests that perhaps San Jose prices are not relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.
