Columbus Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Google Adwords in USA

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Columbus was the 0th most expensive city in USA in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of September 2014. Columbus also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Georgia, ranking as 2nd. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in the country, while Ontario ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Columbus keywords increased by 11% in September 2014.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 186% Higher in Columbus than Montgomery

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Columbus are 186% higher than in Montgomery. The average price of a click in Columbus is $15.04.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Montgomery is less than Columbus, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in Columbus are relatively low, we also compared prices with Fontana which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in Columbus was 90% higher than in Fontana. This suggests that perhaps Columbus prices are not relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.
