Detroit Ranks Amongst Least Expensive Markets for Google Adwords in USA

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Detroit was the 102nd least expensive city in USA in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of September 2016. Detroit also ranks amongst the least expensive cities in Michigan, ranking as number 2nd. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in the country, while Ontario ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Detroit keywords increased by 25% in September 2016.

Not surprisingly, the month over month price increases for Detroit Google Adwords terms helped increase prices (yr./yr. price increase)% higher than the same period last year.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 162% Higher in Detroit than Warren

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Detroit are 162% higher than in Warren. The average price of a click in Detroit is $13.55.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Warren is less than Detroit, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in Detroit are relatively low, we also compared prices with El Paso which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in Detroit was 22% higher than in El Paso. This suggests that perhaps Detroit prices are not relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.
