St. Louis Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Rocky Mountain States

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that St. Louis was the 10th most expensive city in Rocky Mountain States in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of December 2014. St. Louis also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Missouri, ranking 1st. In the study, Ann Arbour ranked as the most expensive city in Rocky Mountain States for keywords, while Detroit ranked as the least expensive city.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 211% Higher in St. Louis than Springfield

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in St. Louis are 211% higher than in Springfield. The average price of a click in St. Louis is $15.64.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Springfield is less than St. Louis, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in St. Louis are relatively low, we also compared prices with Riverside which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in St. Louis was 24% higher than in Riverside. This suggests that perhaps St. Louis prices are not relatively low.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.
