Raleigh Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in South Atlantic

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Raleigh was the 12nd most expensive city in South Atlantic in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of March 2015. Raleigh also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in North Carolina, ranking 2nd. In the study, North Charleston ranked as the most expensive city in South Atlantic for keywords, while Portsmouth ranked as the least expensive city.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 131% Higher in Raleigh than Cary

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Raleigh are 131% higher than in Cary. The average price of a click in Raleigh is $16.39.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Cary is less than Raleigh, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in Raleigh are relatively low, we also compared prices with Omaha which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in Raleigh was 38% higher than in Omaha. This suggests that perhaps Raleigh prices are not relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.

An ongoing PPC Study by Search Engine People tracks and monitors how paid search in North America’s Top Cities is changing over time for select industries.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.

The study includes a limited numbers of keywords to represent each industry, and specific segments in each industry. The main industries tracked are:
