Philadelphia Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Google Adwords in USA

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Philadelphia was the 19th most expensive city in USA in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of March 2015. Philadelphia also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Pennsylvania, ranking as 1st. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in the country, while Ontario ranked as the least expensive city.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 93% Higher in Philadelphia than Wilmington

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Philadelphia are 93% higher than in Wilmington. The average price of a click in Philadelphia is $22.04.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Wilmington is less than Philadelphia, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To get a better sense of relative prices, we also compared prices with another city of equal population, Phoenix, and found the average price of a click in Philadelphia was 7% lower than in Phoenix. This suggests that perhaps prices in Philadelphia are relatively low.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.
