Philadelphia Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Middle Atlantic

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Philadelphia was the 3rd most expensive city in Middle Atlantic in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of July 2016. Philadelphia also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Pennsylvania, ranking 2nd. In the study, The Bronx ranked as the most expensive city in Middle Atlantic for keywords, while Buffalo ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Philadelphia keywords increased by 25% in July 2016.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 90% Higher in Philadelphia than Wilmington

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Philadelphia are 90% higher than in Wilmington. The average price of a click in Philadelphia is $20.59.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Wilmington is less than Philadelphia, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To get a better sense of relative prices, we also compared prices with another city of equal population, Phoenix, and found the average price of a click in Philadelphia was 21% lower than in Phoenix. This suggests that perhaps prices in Philadelphia are relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.
