Salt Lake City Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Rocky Mountain States

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Salt Lake City was the 16th most expensive city in Rocky Mountain States in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of July 2015. Salt Lake City also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Utah, ranking 1st. In the study, Ann Arbour ranked as the most expensive city in Rocky Mountain States for keywords, while Fort Wayne ranked as the least expensive city.

Month over Month Google Adwords Prices for Salt Lake City Rise in July 2015

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Salt Lake City keywords increased by 24% in July 2015.

Not surprisingly, the month over month price increases for Salt Lake City Google Adwords terms helped increase prices (yr./yr. price increase)% higher than the same period last year.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 547% Higher in Salt Lake City than West Valley City

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Salt Lake City are 547% higher than in West Valley City. The average price of a click in Salt Lake City is $17.38.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of West Valley City is less than Salt Lake City, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in Salt Lake City are relatively low, we also compared prices with Providence which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in Salt Lake City was 75% higher than in Providence. This suggests that perhaps Salt Lake City prices are not relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.

An ongoing PPC Study by Search Engine People tracks and monitors how paid search in North America’s Top Cities is changing over time for select industries.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.

The study includes a limited numbers of keywords to represent each industry, and specific segments in each industry. The main industries tracked are:
