Salt Lake City Ranks Amongst Least Expensive Markets for Google Adwords in USA

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Salt Lake City was the 66th least expensive city in USA in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of September 2014. Salt Lake City also ranks amongst the least expensive cities in Utah, ranking as number 1st. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in the country, while Ontario ranked as the least expensive city.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 331% Higher in Salt Lake City than West Valley City

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Salt Lake City are 331% higher than in West Valley City. The average price of a click in Salt Lake City is $13.21.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of West Valley City is less than Salt Lake City, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in Salt Lake City are relatively low, we also compared prices with Providence which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in Salt Lake City was 8% higher than in Providence. This suggests that perhaps Salt Lake City prices are not relatively low.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.
