Virginia Beach Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in South Atlantic

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Virginia Beach was the 7th most expensive city in South Atlantic in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of December 2014. Virginia Beach also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Virginia, ranking 1st. In the study, North Charleston ranked as the most expensive city in South Atlantic for keywords, while Durham ranked as the least expensive city.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 79% Higher in Virginia Beach than Chesapeake

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Virginia Beach are 79% higher than in Chesapeake. The average price of a click in Virginia Beach is $18.33.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Chesapeake is less than Virginia Beach, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To get a better sense of relative prices, we also compared prices with another city of equal population, Atlanta, and found the average price of a click in Virginia Beach was 11% lower than in Atlanta. This suggests that perhaps prices in Virginia Beach are relatively low.

An ongoing PPC Study by Search Engine People tracks and monitors how paid search in North America’s Top Cities is changing over time for select industries.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.

The study includes a limited numbers of keywords to represent each industry, and specific segments in each industry. The main industries tracked are:
