Tacoma Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Pacific States

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Tacoma was the 10th most expensive city in Pacific States in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of November 2014. Tacoma also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Washington, ranking 2nd. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in Pacific States for keywords, while Kent ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Tacoma keywords increased by 18% in November 2014.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 104% Higher in Tacoma than Kent

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Tacoma are 104% higher than in Kent. The average price of a click in Tacoma is $17.16.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Kent is less than Tacoma, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in Tacoma are relatively low, we also compared prices with Oxnard which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in Tacoma was 54% higher than in Oxnard. This suggests that perhaps Tacoma prices are not relatively low.
