Birmingham Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in East South Central

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Birmingham was the 2nd most expensive city in East South Central in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of November 2014. Birmingham also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in Alabama, ranking 1st. In the study, Gulfport ranked as the most expensive city in East South Central for keywords, while Memphis ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Birmingham keywords increased by 11% in November 2014.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 79% Higher in Birmingham than Huntsville

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Birmingham are 79% higher than in Huntsville. The average price of a click in Birmingham is $17.03.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Huntsville is less than Birmingham, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To understand if prices in Birmingham are relatively low, we also compared prices with Spokane which has a similar population, and found the average price of a click in Birmingham was 25% higher than in Spokane. This suggests that perhaps Birmingham prices are not relatively low.
