Birmingham Ranks Amongst Least Expensive Markets for Google Adwords in USA

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Birmingham was the 160th least expensive city in USA in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of April 2015. Birmingham also ranks amongst the least expensive cities in Alabama, ranking as number 1st. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in the country, while Manchester ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Birmingham keywords increased by 14% in April 2015.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 57% Higher in Birmingham than Huntsville

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Birmingham are 57% higher than in Huntsville. The average price of a click in Birmingham is $10.86.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Huntsville is less than Birmingham, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To get a better sense of relative prices, we also compared prices with another city of equal population, Spokane, and found the average price of a click in Birmingham was 36% lower than in Spokane. This suggests that perhaps prices in Birmingham are relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.
