San Francisco Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Pacific States

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that San Francisco was the 11th most expensive city in Pacific States in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of September 2016. San Francisco also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in California, ranking 8th. In the study, San Buenaventura ranked as the most expensive city in Pacific States for keywords, while Ontario ranked as the least expensive city.

Month over Month Google Adwords Prices for San Francisco Decrease in September 2016

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting San Francisco keywords decreased by (decrease %) in September 2016.

The month over month price decreases for San Francisco Google Adwords terms were not significant enough to pull the year over year price change into negative territory. In fact, prices captured this month were (yr./yr. price increase)% higher than the same period last year.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 116% Higher in San Francisco than Daly City

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in San Francisco are 116% higher than in Daly City. The average price of a click in San Francisco is $17.09.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of Daly City is less than San Francisco, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To get a better sense of relative prices, we also compared prices with another city of equal population, Jacksonville, and found the average price of a click in San Francisco was 6% lower than in Jacksonville. This suggests that perhaps prices in San Francisco are relatively low.

The Price Rank shows how expensive keywords are in certain industry and segment relative to other cities in a country, region and province.
