Queens Ranks Amongst Most Expensive Markets for Keywords in Middle Atlantic

SEP's ongoing research into PPC Campaigns has revealed that Queens was the 4th most expensive city in Middle Atlantic in keyword bids in Google Adwords for the month of September 2014. Queens also ranks amongst the most expensive cities in New York, ranking 2nd. In the study, The Bronx ranked as the most expensive city in Middle Atlantic for keywords, while Buffalo ranked as the least expensive city.

SEP's research shows that the average price of a click to advertisers targeting Queens keywords increased by 17% in September 2014.

Google Adwords Keyword Prices 3% Higher in Queens than New York City

SEP’s research also tracks Google Adwords price changes and trends in cities across Canada and the U.S. Recent data shows that average prices in Queens are 3% higher than in New York City. The average price of a click in Queens is $15.19.

This price difference is understandable though, given the population of New York City is less than Queens, which generally means less competition and therefore lower prices.

To get a better sense of relative prices, we also compared prices with another city of equal population, Dallas, and found the average price of a click in Queens was 29% lower than in Dallas. This suggests that perhaps prices in Queens are relatively low.

An ongoing PPC Study by Search Engine People tracks and monitors how paid search in North America’s Top Cities is changing over time for select industries.

The study illustrates the Average Price-Per-Click in a given city for select Industries and their related segments. Additionally, it reveals its current rank to other markets in a Country, Province, and its Month over Month % Price change.

This PPC study monitors the prices of keywords, number of advertisers competing for those keywords, and search volumes. To ensure relative market-to-market comparison keywords tracked are based on sufficient search volumes in all markets studied.

The study includes a limited numbers of keywords to represent each industry, and specific segments in each industry. The main industries tracked are:
