You may want to add Just Retweet and Viral Content Buzz to your free discovery tools. There are posts on my site that explain how those two work. I use them both almost daily and they are the best way to find strong content and to get influencers to share yours.

Of course there are many others such as Kingged, Paper.li, Pearltrees – too many to mention really.

My favorite method is to identify writers and blogs with exceptional content and feed their RSS into my Twitter stream so I see all their new content. (You could also find or create a Twitter list and retweet and interact with their content from there.)

I have a list for visual content where I put the best sites that have Twitter cards working. (Every blog that gets Twitter cards working has a great advantage on Twitter right now which declines over time as more sites get it installed. I use the JM Twitter cards plugin.)
