Hi David, I agree that you might not have data on your own audience if you are starting from scratch.Writing about the problem that you solve for your intended customers will help, as well as focusing on interests as you suggest. The competitive analysis may also provide a guide.

A very informative article Sharon. I have realized there are so many avenues to investigate which means it's a challenge , but very exciting at the same time.

All the best,

Hi Sharon,

You've presented a solid framework here for anyone to follow and implement.
The one part that is tricky is regards the audience because until you have been writing a while you won't have any data to analyze in Google. Perhaps it would be better to write about what interests you as a good starting point, to make sure your content is purposeful. Perhaps this would be different for a larger organisation with more historical marketing data.

Thanks
- David

You're right, Phoenicia; there are a lot of considerations. Funnily enough, I have a post on the Crackerjack Marketing blog today about how to choose your ideal social network. It's just an overview, but it might help.

This post is great!

Social media is wonderful and plays a huge part in reaching customers. However, I do find it overwhelming at times. There are a wide variety of platforms, forums and so on. What to choose as it is not one size fits all!

As you have mentioned we firstly need to know our goals before we can go any further.

I like your point on knowing with whom to network. There is not enough time to spread ourselves so thinly. I am active within three forums and that is more than enough for me!
