This article made me really happy! That may sound a little evil, but it's a real reassurance to see that google really does play fair. I've gotten the feeling that big corporations pick on the little guys more than once, so it's nice to see the big dogs taking a punch or two every now and then!

The Overstock Idea is fantastic. Yes, they took it a little too far but the idea behind it is really really good.

Loving it and thinking about ways to do the same...

Cheers

BMW had to have some dumb SEO people to think they can get away with something like that. At least the other big names on the list were slightly smarter. Overstock actually had a good idea but they took it one step too far with that tactic. They should have left it at getting the students to link to the site and not request them to use specific key words. But because these are big brands, they pretty much all saw their rankings come back fairly quickly.

It's good to see the big guys pay the price, after all, they have the big budgets and the staff to make things happen and the little guys have to compete against them. And its so interesting to see that they all used tactics that Google repeatedly warns us against using. Shame on them.
