I agree, I’m annoyed with location based personalization some times. For online shopping, I don’t care where the item is and usually I search online simply because I cannot find it locally so stop giving me local results!

Social search personalization has some interesting implications. If your results were based on friend’s opinions wouldn’t you opt for a smaller group of friends who you really trusted as opposed to trying to make new friends?

Kind of a difference in the way many of us view social media at the moment.

Then there are those situations that require more research. For example in my industry there is Cleveland Chiropractic (a school based in Los Angeles). Chiropractors in Cleveland aren’t always too happy about results.
