Isn’t “subdirectories” the same as “subfolders”? I’m wondering if you mistook subdirectories for subdomains.

Are human factors considered? So frustrating to try and understand subdomain pro-cons. What I’ve been trying to find is a discussion or advice on subdomains applying to social media sites [any outside sites] and if the strategy of using twitter.mydomain.tld and facebook.mydomain.tld and video.mydomain.tld is helpful or hurtful to my domain. My guess is that it’s not a help to the bots/serp but i like it for the human eyes.
