Agreed the starbucks comment was quite flippant! Although I have seen this happen many times especially when a freelancer is trying to give himself a portfolio.

Just because you can read and write doesn’t mean you have what it takes to persuade people to spend their money! Although, I’m not so sure how ‘professional’ a writer can be if he’d do a website for “the price of a trip to Starbucks”.
