As a little girl, I waited anxiously each year for the annual showing of The Wizard of Oz on TV. That magical movie is a classic. Although the definition of classic is generally 'first rate', it also usually implies something with some history behind it - something that has stood the test of time. Some works, however, are so good that they should become instant classics. I just finished watching Sci Fi's Tin Man, and I'd put that movie into the instant classic category. It was a fascinating take on the story of OZ. I won't go into details, but I recommend watching it. The story line is mesmerizing, the visuals are captivating, and the ties back to the original film creates an entertaining film. In fact, I'd call it - great content.
Great content may take great effort and great imagination, but the result is worth it. I know not all subjects can translate into entertainment, but even plumbing or laundry could be livened up with some interesting content. One incredible piece of content could be your instant classic. Committing great effort and great imagination to create one incredible piece of content is likely to create more buzz, backlinks, and traffic than 1000 mediocre pieces of content.
I enjoyed the Tin Man so much, I just had to mention it. Your content should cause that same reaction in others. Can you create one truly great piece of content? Well, can you?
