Nice one, Todd, really true. I get the same "inspiration" from out riding my bike, or up at the local mountain riding my snowboard, or cross country skiing with my wife. For me, being outside and exercising is the equivalent. And even when I'm home, and not working, a book or good movie often spurs on new ideas. That's what separates just the hard worker from the hard + smart worker. Working smartly means giving yourself new perspectives and gleaning ideas from wherever you are. There's genius in those moments, for sure!

"I’ve always felt that success in this industry is far more dependent on the insights you can glean than any amount of work you do."

I agree, that we often find great ideas for writing, for video when out and about living life.

I stopped on a country road last week to video winter's artwork in the trees to include in my blog.

We have to get away from the computer and all things related to get in touch with ourselves and our world.

After a break, productivity happens.

Todd, this post just made me one of your biggest fans! I've always liked your stuff but I could not agree with you more on this. And of course bonus points for working a pic from both Black Ceasar AND Blacula in the same post!

That being said I will still be going to conferences. You gonna be at SMX West?
