Some interesting information, Barry.

As the sources you have quoted say, there seems to be a number of factors that may be causing such inconsistencies between the data that is being given. This issue also occurs when comparing other stat tool, both Google and non Google. The fact that most tools do not return live Analytics data, has some bearing on this. Also, it has been said that all of these tools measure the data differently. Page views in one tool can be far higher than than others.

I find page views important as to which pages are most popular on a site, but I tend to give more attention to overall site visits, bounce rate and time spent on the site.

Personally I use Google Analytics as I find it accurate for my purposes - I can easily see if a website is performing well from month to month and take appropriate action if it's not.

I have never gotten around to changing the timezone issue so I have never really spend any time looking into there differences. Personally I am more interested in the direction (up/down) of the amount of traffic than of what data might be the most accurate. You'll find the same differences if you're using different tracking software.

Regards,
