Any experience changing ALL the citation sources (one can find) and replacing the URL with a new one? I have a couple of ‘new’ clients who were hit with Penguin issues and feel it’s best to just start fresh with a new URL.

Hi Kenneth,

In such cases I suggest that your client gets ALL his business “citations” around the web updated with the new address. Otherwise major confusions might occur and eventually his Google+ Local listing’s organic search rankings might drop significantly. I like to call this process “citation clean-up”.

Thanks for the great article. I have a customer who wants to relocate his business but keep the same phone number. Does it mean that his Google Places accounts will just get merged because he uses the same phone number?

Here’s what he says:

We are relocating but i dont plan to delete this address because its all over the web i get a lot of business from it, but i have the same phone number so people will still be at my new location.

What would you recommend doing in this particular situation?

Hi Dorothea,

Yep, MapMaker is not available in Germany yet. It is available in the US, Canada, and about 190 more countries, but it is not available almost anywhere in Europe. As far as I know this is due to some legal matters with the EU.

I’ve been trying to report a duplicate business (based in Germany) through the 3rd method. Guess this option is only available in Canada and USA?

Was dealing with one heck of a mess where some script created 300 spam citations for a client, and it took almost 6 months to get the NAP clean enough for the listing to snap into the local pack.

Anyway – thanks for advice man!

Hi Nyagoslav, I love this post thanks for sharing this information. I had a question regarding procedure. In case B, after listings merge do you delete any of the two listings or do you keep the listings in both the new and old accounts?

Eventually my listings have merged. All is good in the world.
