Yes, from a consumer standpoint, Google Places is no more. It now directs you to Google+ Local. However, from a back-end standpoint (i.e. setting up your business), it’s still using the Google Places interface. Probably good they didn’t change everything at once.

One other point that goes along with what you’re saying is that you do want to go ahead and make sure you have a Google+ brand page for your business with a link to it from your website to make sure that Google gets the full picture of your business.

Brilliant article. I’d like to add that, apart from Google Places, it would also be a good idea to have your business listed on websites like Yelp and FourSquare. Both these services are extremely popular, used by millions, and allow your business to get a lot of exposure online.

Google Places? I thought that Google Places was pretty much over now that Google+ is being used for local search?
