Hi,

I don't think I'd say you're wasting your time...if the link is good for traffic, that's not a waste. I am just trying to say that ideally, a link with anchor text relating to your site/page would be the best type of link to get. I've talked about "noise" links in other places (as have many others) which are basically (to me) links for keywords that are those other than your ideal ones. These could be anything from your url to your site name to Click Here links. They may or not be relevant, but a few of them in the mix makes your link profile look more natural, so I like them.

Hi Greg,

I'm not a fan of reciprocal links and think they are basically almost worthless for many reasons, which is why I didn't go into details about that area of link building. However, it's a good point that it's something I should have covered, so apologies!

Good article, except this one thing...

In the screenshot you made from LinkedIn and said it's a good anchor text, note that you have to set the page to "Other" on LinkedIn in order to be able to control the anchor and in this case the link gets nofollowed. So if you want a do follow link from linked in, I'm afraid it will have to be anchored as "My Website"
