They evaluated how well structured my site was, how content rich it was and how difficult it would be to get a top position for my keyword. They said that if they did not feel they had a shot at it, they would not have evne accepted the project.

Once the evaluation was done, they charged an upfront fee of $3500 to get the site ready and they proposed a rate for top placement in each search engine. That upfront cost would not be incurred for future key words, it was a one time deal.
