Pinterest is best used for brand awareness. Google is importing signals from Facebook and Twitter for their algorithms but I do not think Pinterest has been directly included.

Well…Pinterest content is image-based so i think it is indexed by Google based on the keywords attached to photos and videos, so content pinned to Pinterest boards can be optimized with keywords and keyword phrases related to a site’s content and brand.

Which means, we are getting do follow links (:

I think Pinterest is a great social network and it is also growing fast but I think people are misusing it for link building purposes when sometimes it feels “forced”. When using a social network we should always keep in mind what the purpose of the social network is and use it accordingly. I have seen multiple pins that make no sense and it is obvious it is only used for backlinks.. and that is sad..

I agree with you, Pinterest is growing fast and many people who use it for building their backlinks. Pinterest is one of the best place to have your backlinks.

It’s important to remember that just because someone repins your images, doesn’t mean they have taken the steps needed to visit your site and then actually linking to your site is a step beyond that.
