Interesting to see you answers on the tools question – I love to see what makes effective people effective.

I’ve checked out Evernote before which definitely makes sense if you have an iphone too.

For Mindmapping I use Concept Draw but will take a look at MindManager…

Lawyers can set precedents within the framework of the law, which has been painstakingly defined. In SEO we work without such an established body. So that’s where the problem is: in laying down “the law” for SEO’s — the specific do’s and don’ts.

I have often wondered “what’s he like in person”. I got a little closer today. Ruud, on accreditation/standards there are lawyers who set precedent and those who provide a good valued regular service. Should only precedent setting lawyers be able to take the bar and call themselves lawyers? When I walk in any lawyers office I know he has meant some minimum standard of professionalism and learning. Until we have set the bar for competency there is no hope for being taken seriously as a trade and professional.

There are too many SEOs that don’t know simple stuff like how to do a 301 and when. There is a lot of techniques that use protocal and known factors like indexing by crawlers. I also see a day when SEO practitioners will be learning IR because SE’s are way beyond “build compelling content and build links” as long term techniques. That only gets you so far… especially in ecommerce!
