Does anyone have any facts or guidance on the SEO impact of using interstitial ads?
Outstanding! It's not as tricky as we make it out to be. Think like the buyer and write for that person.

Thanks for a great read. Very useful and a great reminder to put the ego in the pocket when you're writing or marketing or...anything.

Great post.

I find one of the greatest challenges when using copy that is not firm centric is acutally convincing the owner of the business that it is the right copy to use. Call it ego, but I find a lot of business owners seem to want a website so that they can say that they have a website.

I also think a great way to tell the gurus apart is to forget about the ones that land an email in your inbox every day trying to sell you something or tell you about their 'friend' that is selling something because 'its a great offer and you will never see it again'. They p.... me off.

@DenverSEOPro Thanks for the compliments!!

@Matt

Actually I love both Google Analytics and the forums, and both are extremely useful. The issue though that we need to be careful of, though is spending so much time analyzing that it prevents us from taking the "action" we need to take, which is often to strategically plan, write and market what it is we sell, produce or provide.

With gurus, there is a lot of smoke and mirrors, and brilliant marketing up front (frankly) that merely sells something that can sometimes be found online by the searching you and I are already doing.

Gurus are themselves brilliant marketers. . .we need to be sure we're doing our due diligence though in where we spend our money!

Cheers,

Do I really have to quit hanging out at the warrior forums and google analytics? Haha, you are stepping on a lot of toes with that comment. I do believe that you are right about gurus going for the money. I have noticed the quality of "guru" training quickly going down the drain with their constant competitions to out sell each other with their latest product launch. If people could just create a strategy find out the basics that work, keep from being distracted, and repeat what works, thy would be more apt to succeed.

Thanks guys, glad to hear the editorial calendar idea has worked for you. It's all about treating our work like a business and playing like the "big boys" do, but to our scale.

Once you start leveraging technology and best practices employed by larger firms, you begin to really make a difference in your own leverage in the marketplace, and start tearing down competitive walls like nobody's business.

I think so too, Michael.
I'm sure everyone walks away from this post with their own takeaways but to me that part, about the editorial calendar, is money-in-the-bank advice.
