It&#039;s a funny phenomenon isn&#039;t it? I see this happen all of the time. They know it&#039;s an irrelevant metric, but there&#039;s a certain level of pride that gets caught up in measuring it and it&#039;s easier to look at than say conversion, or increased loyalty. I totally get it. But it&#039;s up to us to help shift that way of thinking. Step. By. Step.

However, at the end of the meeting, getting more &quot;likes&quot; than a arch rival was still set as a goal, despite the realization that it was basically just a vanity metric. As long as Facebook shows &quot;likes&quot; to every viewer, it will remain a metric that some managers will care about, regardless of how unreliable it is. Perception rules, for better or worse.]]></description>
