How many young people today even know what the "Golden Rule" is? There is, sadly, a lack of common courtesy in the world today, and the internet is no exception. I think the internet gives people 'courage of anonymity' that face to face interaction does not.

Very, very true, both online and off. None of us likes to be seen as a "prospect" rather than a person. Neither do we like to see people approach us with dollar signs in their eyes. If we don't like it, we must understand that others don't like it from us, either.

I've been turned off by how some people, especially those selling products on the Internet, use social media, and their e-mail lists, almost exclusively as a way to get you to buy their products, either directly or indirectly.

I think you're correct in pointing out that people do things on the Internet that they wouldn't do if they were dealing with people in person.
