Hannah, Evernote is a little minimal and dorky, but I (along with many others) swear by it because it's crazy portable, super flexible, and can fit all kinds of problems.

In other words, DO IT!

Also, if you struggle with the SIMPLICITY of Evernote (I think some people do), it might be worth checking out Zendone (zendone.com). It allows you to have a visual task manager that runs on top of Evernote and syncs with your calendars.

That's great, Annalisa! I've actually found that less is more when it comes to tagging for this process. Tags are most important when used for filtering and grouping outreach by attributes, but if you're using them to search for things, having detailed notes and using the search function is pretty much strictly better.

Hopefully this setup will make your outreach life a little easier!

Vincent, this post is great! I've been using Evernote for about a year and I'm always looking for ways to use it more effectively. I can't believe I never thought of using it for outreach tracking.

I love the way you score the leads and use nested notebooks so you don't have to keep adding/deleting/updating tags. Brilliant!! I'm going to employ this in my link building efforts. Thanks!

Vincent, thank you for this insightful piece. I have been searching for a system to organize my guest posting. I will be testing Evernote in the near future!
