While I highly recommend that you do NOT rely on optimization tools for your SEO efforts, they can be useful as a backup to your brain. No matter how many sites I optimize (there've been lots), I cannot rely on my brain to remember everything. I'll even miss the most basic techniques on occasion. This is when an optimization tool comes in handy - as a reminder only!
I stress this because I would hate to see someone think that all they need to do is run their site through an optimization tool, and bam!, they'll be #1 the next day. That's just not the case. But seo tools can be good reminders of things you may have forgotten, or point out things you may never have thought of. So, it can be useful to run your site through them on occasion.
Almost every tool imaginable is available for free online somewhere. But, of course, the chore is hunting them all down, and remembering to bookmark them for future use.
I mosied over to InstantPosition and noticed that they have a free one-day trial of their membership, which gives access to all the tools, so for fun, I tried it. Here are the tools that come with the membership.
- seo doc
- competitor analysis tool
- backlink analysis tool
- link partner finder
- Google ranking tool
None of these tools are any more outstanding than the ones you'd find for free around the net, but it is nice to have them all in one place, and all in a similar format. I ran a few of my sites through them, and actually did catch a couple of items that I'd forgotten about. Nothing earth-shattering, but still useful. You might want to give it a try for the free one-day trial, and if you find it useful, go ahead and sign up for a longer time.
