Broken Link Checker has been so useful. I did a major site restructure last year, merging 5 blogs into 1, and this plugin allowed me to very quickly fix all links across the site. Manually it would have taken days to complete, maybe weeks. Link Checker did it in about 10 minutes.

I am not a fan of SEO Smart Links though, unless it has fixed the bugs. Had issues with it placing links in headers and also links within already linked sentences.

Oh! Definitely am going to have to check out the KB Linker. That sounds like a great plugin! Because building a significant amount of backlink i s alotta work! lol. Thanks.

@RichG – The power of the Linker or Smart Link would be in the automated process for identifying internal and cross linking of posts/pages in your own site more so than external linking… Although I am guessing (as I dont use it for such) that it may be of benefit for affiliates with set external links…

Hey Rich,

The idea behind link building is that they act as votes for your site’s authority. The more votes you have from relevant, trusted sites, the higher your site should theoretically rank. It’s not as simple as that, but that’s the basic concept.

What is the long term implication of generating a lot of links to external sites such as the red shoes example. How does it improve your search profile?
