I've used Yahoo site explorer on a daily basis and its truly sad that its gone now. Blekko seems to be a decent alternative. I've used it a few times but the data it spits out doesn't seem to be entirely accurate. Now, I've switched to SEO Spyglass. Although not as convenient as YSE, it does the job of analyzing links. One good thing about Spyglass is that you can set up a schedule of which sites to analyze links. Set up a schedule and just let it run on its own - it'll save you some time :)

So far the only free tool that I have really liked is Blekko, all the others seem to require payment before you get any useful data out. Open Site Explorer seems good if you want to pay (although, why "open" if you have to pay????).

Hey Jon! Besides Blekko, SEOmoz, and the oodles of Google tools out there.. What do you think will help fill the void? Site Ranker/Link Assistant and HypeStat are handy SEO tools, even if just for benchmarking. What do you all use? Not many comparable free tools come to mind for me. It certainly was nice seeing all that data at a glance and with a few simple clicks. 8)

This is sad news indeed.. But it is nice to have the Microsoft and Yahoo data combined. I've used Site Explorer for my clients up until recently and will surely miss it. Yahoo lost a lot of ground in North America but the international data provides good insight. I just hope Microsoft continues to innovate. rather than let Yahoo resources go to waste.

I am sad to see it go. Even if just used to quickly see where your own links are coming from it is good. I have spotted uncovered problems, scrapers and other thieves by doing a health check using Yahoo site explorer. I think that Blekko may be able to fill the vacuum nicely though.
