The study monitors dozens of keywords specific to each city, to understand their competitiveness in each city, where opportunities lie, and even what is required for a site to hope to rank well in that city. Individual keywords studied represent industries, and industries in turn are grouped into 10 main baskets (shown below).

Gathering the data in this way, allows for each city to be ranked on SEO Competitiveness, by province/state, by region, and ultimately by country.
