How many of your backlinks are from unique domains?

Found a simple little tool that does SEO analysis on a page. It is nothing fancy or earth-shattering, but it does give one little stat that I found interesting. It not only shows the number of backlinks to the page, but it also shows how many unique domains that those backlinks came from (limited as shown below). Here is an example of what I am talking about.

Example page from a domain (not this one) that I ran:

This page has 658 backlinks reported by Yahoo. Backlinks are links to your page from other pages.

Unique linking domains: 73 This is the number of different domain names that are linking to this page from the first 1000 backlinks we found on Yahoo.

This kind of information can be useful not only in analyzing your own backlinks, but also that of your competitors. Do they have tens of thousands of backlinks, but only a handful of those are from unique domains? Run this on a few pages (yours or a competitor) and see if you find anything meaningful for your situation.
