Monetizing sites – mini subscriptions?

Was just reading about a new service that allows blogs and sites to charge minimal amounts of money for subscription services. It is called PixelPass, and it gives publishers a way to charge as little as 25 cents per month for access to content. It purports to be as simple as adding one line of code to a page, to require a subscription to the page's content. I can see how this could be useful for site owners who want to set up a premium content section of their site, but I would not suggest trying to monetize an entire site this way. Internet users expect to get something for free, so be sure to supply them with that. PixelPass is also touting this as a way to monetize blogs, but frankly, I cannot imagine any of my users being willing to pay even 25 cents per month to read the content, and I seriously doubt many blogs could get away with it. Still, I'm always looking for new revenue streams for my sites, and this is one that is interesting. If you think this might work for you, check it out at www.pixelpass.com.
