Yahoo and MSN cranking up new strategies in SE war

Both Yahoo! and MSN are feverishly getting closer to winning the war against Google. Both are beta testing new features (or in MSNs case, a whole new search engine) that they hope will bring them the spoils of the search engine war.

Yahoo! unveiled its new My Yahoo! Search yesterday (in beta), and this one could be quite popular. Here is the description of the new features:

Personal Search - search for what you want, the way you want.

I especially like the feature of saving the results you like, and you can also add a note about the result. Read more about it at http://www.ysearchblog.com/archives/000032.html and test it out at http://next.yahoo.com/

MSN has invited about 35 people, including bloggers, researchers and others to beta test their new search engine. They will gather next week at a two day event called Search Champs, where they will meet with the MSN search team, test the search engine, and give feedback. This probably means that the new search engine is almost ready to go live.

Google has to be worrying about these two competitors nipping at their heels. As SEOs, we should be scurrying to make sure that we are prepared for the changes to come in the search engine tides.
