Ads for a buck going up soon

I'm sure by now all of you have noticed the Scratchback widget to the right, where for just a measly buck (that's $1, in case you were thinking of an animal with horns), you can get your lovely advertisement (yes, even an affiliate link) presented to the SEO Scoop audience everywhere they turn. What Scratchback widget? Oh! The one that says "Are you in my TopSpots?". Yes, that one. You can read more about this lovely little tipping system that tips you back on my Advertising page.

That measly $1 will be going up soon. I haven't completely made up my mind about the price increase, but I'm guessing I'll probably make it $5. So from now until then, you might want to get in on the action at $1 if you haven't already. When am I increasing it? Well, I haven't decided on that completely yet either, but it will be at least a few days before I get around to it. I think...maybe. 🙂

Just a heads up.

Interesting idea Donna. Been wondering what Jim was up to 😉

You received a $1 tip from me. Seems to be a slight delay in it being published but that can be expected.

Judging by your subscriber stats and price of this deal, I don’t expect more than a few hours exposure. I think increasing the price in this case would provide more value to both you and the advertiser/tipper as the link would display longer and you’d make more money.

I have it set so that I have to approve first. I’ll approve anything decent, of course, but I do have to reserve judgement for a few things that might be especially icky. So, I was asleep when you tipped me (thanks, btw). Of course, right at the moment, scratchback is down, so i can’t, but as soon as it returns, i will.

    🙂 Thanks Donna.

Already off the top spot, so I don’t know how much value this will hold. We’ll see.

PS: Please install the email notification to comment replies plugin 🙂

I have the subscribe to comments plugin installed. Is that not what you mean? (oh right, it’s way down at the bottom, darn it. i’ll see if i can make this move itself up closer to the actual comment form) update: i fixed the problem, btw

So, for $1, you were in the top spot for a few hours, and you’ll probably remain in the top 10 for quite some time, and that’s not value? I’ve seen people stay on the list for a few days.

Keep in mind that this is more like a tip system, so you aren’t really buying a spot – you’re tipping and receiving a nice little thank you in return. Better than a straightforward donation, and the amount is so small that it should be worthwhile…I think.

Of course, everyone’s definition of value is different, so I understand if it doesn’t seem to be worthwhile for you. I do appreciate the feedback though. Good to know how it works for everyone.

    I bought one!
I figure that it probably won’t help me at all since I sell unrelated metal roofing products, but for $1 how can you complain!

Ahhh, no! I didn’t mean it like that! I meant that I don’t know how those wishing to use it as an advertising means will derive their value.

It’s more than a day later and my link is still there, that’s great. I really only wanted to test the scratchback system and your blog was the first in my feed reader that mentioned it. For tipping, I think this is a MUCH better alternative to a simple “paypal” button.

Can you define how many links are shown?

Regarding the subscribe to comments plugin, sorry… I didn’t see it. It seems to be there now though. 🙂

Thanks, Nathan! Dave, I get what you’re saying. And yes, there are options in how many links are shown. If I remember correctly, I think it’s in multiples of 5 (5, 10, 15). Not sure what the cutoff might be.

Is there any way you could add a space between “Sell” and “Metal” ?

Wish I could Nathan, but i doesn’t appear that I have the ability to edit what you typed. Sorry.

Thats alright. I’ll double-check myself next time
