The Superbowl is this Sunday, and although I am a big football fan, I do not have much interest in the two teams who will be vying for the title of Superbowl champion. No matter who is playing in the Superbowl, however, I always watch, if only to catch the expensive, sometimes incredibly entertaining, commercials. MSN will be airing commercials during the Superbowl this year, as part of its advertising campaign for the new MSN Search. I'm not sure if the following two TV commercials will be the ones aired or not, but in any case, you can view these now.
The launch of MSN Search this week had relatively little hype and fanfare from Microsoft, but the Superbowl commercials will be the start of a massive advertising campaign. I have already had a very nice bump in traffic from the new MSN Search, and I look forward to ever-increasing traffic once the full force of Microsoft's advertising campaign kicks in. Both Yahoo! and MSN are experienced at the game of advertising, but Google has so far declined to play. They will need to get into this game if they hope to win the game. This is like the SEO preseason. Look for the SEO playoffs this fall, and the results of the SEO Superbowl by the end of the year.
