According to an announcement on the Google LatLong blog just today, Google is launching a "Google Small Business Blog, a central hub that brings together all the information about our products, features and projects of specific interest to the small business community. " The goal is to make it easier for small businesses to find answers to all their Google questions in one central repository. The new Google Small Business Blog can be found here.

What Does This Mean To SEP Readers:
Good news. It'll make it easier (presumably) to find answers to Google product questions, rather than having to 'Google' them.

The concern for me is that yes, while slightly more convenient, the fox is in charge of the proverbial hen house. The defaults of many Google Adwords parameters favour Google's interests rather than those of the business owner. Now, if small business owners are even less likely to look for answers elsewhere, they're receiving the Google 'revenue' biased perspective at the expense of more well rounded views from blogs such as ours.

I'm President and CEO of Search Engine People Inc. I'm a sports fanatic, particularly hockey, but in reality just about any sport. If Toronto had a dog sled team ... I'd probably try to get season's tickets. Guess I'm fortunate ... I'm very happily married, and am a father of three spirited kids (two girls and a boy). They tend to like sports too ... imagine that. I've got an BA in Economics, and an MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University ... go Hawks go! I'm a tremendous fan of all things science and the internet, and particularly how the internet is changing our behaviours. I'm always looking to connect with more people interested in the same topics as I am, so I'd encourage you to "Friend me" in all the social media below if that's you too!
